ER HYZOR OPERATION

1. What does the driver have to do to operate the HyZor? 2. How much water do I add? 3. Is the ER HyZor safe? 4. What happens if the ER HyZor is impacted in an accident? 5. How much Brown's Gas does the ER HyZor produce? 6. How much water does the ER HyZor use? 7. How many amps will the ER HyZor draw in operation?   Q. What does the driver have to do to operate the HyZor?   A. A driver's responsibility is basically the refilling water. The yellow light will indicate the need for water. Refill with steam-distilled water.   Should a driver forget to fill or miss seeing the yellow low-level light, the ER HyZor will simply stay shut down until water is added. This will prevent operation if the fluid level is too low. Inadequate water causes irreparable damage to the cells.   Top Of Page   Q. How much water do I add?   A. When the yellow light indicates that liquid is low, add from 10 mL to 50 mL of distilled water into the ER HyZor chamber.   Top Of Page   Q. Is the ER HyZor safe?   A. In short Yes!   We have addressed every possible safety concern while bringing the HyZor Technology to you in a simple, practical and inexpensive form.   The current design is based on experience with various 'on-board electrolyzer' designs since 1978 and comprehensive research of Brown's Gas since 1991. We have achieved a system that is safer than the battery and fuel systems that are already installed in the vehicle.   We designed the ER HyZor to produce Brown's Gas only when the engine is actually running, so there would never be a buildup of hydrogen gas in the intake manifold.   We use sodium hydroxide as the catalyst because it is much less caustic than potassium hydroxide and we have found it to be more efficient in actual testing. Further, it is much easier and less expensive to acquire.   The ER HyZor inherently self-limits its amperage so it cannot 'short' out. The main reason we recommend a fuse in the system is to make it simple to shut off the power to the ER HyZor.   Top Of Page   Q. What happens if the ER HyZor is impacted in an accident?   A. If it breaks open, it will leak the sodium hydroxide and distilled water mixture. Sodium hydroxide is lye, which is a common household drain cleaner. Immediately wash any spill with lots of water, until the 'slippery' feeling is gone.   Lye is produced when burning wood, as in a forest fire, so it is environmentally benign when mixed with copious water.   Top Of Page   Q. How much Brown's Gas does the ER HyZor produce?   A. That depends on the amperage going through the ER HyZor. The formula to calculate gas production is:   ((A / 26.8) * 16.8) * C = Liters of 2H2:O2 (Brown's Gas)   A = Actual DC amps flowing through your electrolyzer (ER HyZor). 26.8 = amps per hour (one Faraday). 16.8 = molar volume (in liters) of di-atomic hydrogen and oxygen gas produced per Faraday. C = Number of cells in your series-cell electrolyzer (ER HyZor has 6 cells).   For example, if we have 2 amps flowing through a 6 cell electrolyzer. Our formula looks like this: ((2 / 26.8) * 16.8) * 6 = 7.5 Liters per hour of 2H2 : O2 (Brown's Gas).   Top Of Page   Q. How much water does the ER HyZor use?   A. When liquid water is split into 2H2:O2 (Brown's Gas), it expands 1866 times. 1 mL of water will make 1866 mL of Brown's Gas.   How much water your ER HyZor will use depends on the amperage going through the ER HyZor. Amperage is what actually splits water into hydrogen and oxygen.   2 amps will make 7.5 (7500 mL) Liters per hour of Brown's Gas. 7500 mL / 1866 = 4 mL of water per hour. There is some water going out as water vapor as well.   At 2 amps, we calculate 5 mL of water for each hour the ER HyZor is on.   Top Of Page   Q. How many amps will the ER HyZor draw in operation?   A. The ER HyZor (Basic) kit is designed to self-limit amperage between 1 and 2.5 amps. This amperage creates a volume of gas that works well for most engines in the 2-liter to 5-liter range.   For engines less than 2 liters we recommend less amperage, which requires our hall-effect (amperage limiting) upgrade.   For engines over 5 liters we recommend two or more ER HyZors as applicable.   Top Of Page
